Instructions to convert phonetic symbols to the spreadsheet 8/17/2006
Step One: print out a copy of the phonetic symbols cross reference guide
Step Two: download a copy of the spreadsheet
Step Three: For each phonetic symbol shown at the TOP of each
line (shown in the left side of step one), you will enter in the
corresponding text representation as shown on the right side of step
one. The text representation will be entered in spreadsheet
columns 'K' thru 'N'.
In other words, you will be matching the symbols to the text representation, and entering it into the spreadsheet.
Note that each combination can have from one to four different symbols,
and hence four different text represtatations. And each
combination of symbols can be up to three different groups.
We have included examples below:
